150 feet siphonophore : Scientist encounter possibly the longest creature ever discovered

During a research expedition off Western Australia in March of this year, scientists catch on film what could possibly be the longest creature ever discovered. At 150 feet the creature called a siphonophore, resembles a long rope and “is a colony of individual zooids, clusters of cells that clone themselves thousands of times to produce an extended, string like body” according to Dr. Nerida Wilson at the Western Australian Museum.  For comparison; a lion’s mane jellyfish is 120 feet long and a blue whale is 100 feet long.
