New Blob Creature Discovered!

A gelatinous blob-like species of ctenphora called Duobrachium Sparksae was announced by NOAA. It's a small deep sea creature around 6 centimeters  long plus tentacles, found 2.5 miles below the surface near Puerto Rico.

The little blob creature was discovered entirely from footage from ROV Deep Discoverer. First filmed in 2015, it took a while to confirm the discovery using only video footage without obtaining a sample. But then, around 150 different types of ctenphora have been discovered to date.

Still pretty cool though, new stuff! We know more about the surface of the moon than we know about the deep ocean.
